LIFE-3E
The goal of LIFE-3E: Environment-Energy-Economy (LIFE19 ENV/ES/000143), co-financed by the LIFE Programme of the European Union, is to develop and demonstrate an innovative process to promote water reclamation and reuse, integrating the production of in-situ renewable energy in the coastal Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant (UWWTP) of Comillas (Cantabria, Spain). This so-called Blue Energy will be generated by recovering the energy contained in the saline gradient through Reverse Electrodialysis. The project aims to contribute to improve the sustainability of water resources, promoting water reuse for road and street cleaning. In addition, it will minimize the external energy demand for wastewater treatment processes and reduce the Greenhouse Gas Emissions related to the consumption of fossil fuels.

LIFE-Waste4Green
Sustainable and Green Agri-Waste Based Biopesticides
This LIFE project have the following objectives:
To mitigate adverse effects on Environment and Human Health of chemical origin pesticides, currently used in stone fruit crops protection.
The efficacy of two natural, safe and sustainable new formulations will be demonstrated. The raw materials will be obtained from agro-industrial by-products that will allow us to replace chemical pesticides used at present in stone fruit crops.
Expected results:
- Safer biopesticides for the Environment and Human Health
- With biocidal activity against target pests and diseases of stone fruit trees
- To improve food security by producing residue-free fruit
- Sustainable and transferable
- With identified positive environmental impacts on biodiversity and climate change
- With identified synergies with other agro-environmental practices
Formulates may be applied under similar circumstances in other countries of the European Union, on other stone fruit and horticultural crops.

Tech4Biowaste:
The Tech4Biowaste project aims to provide the bio-based industry with a complete overview of existing and emerging technologies with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 and higher for biowaste utilisation and valorisation.
Tech4Biowaste Objectives
- To offer stakeholders along the biobased value chain with different backgrounds and expertise a one-stop and comprehensive biowaste technology overview that allows to analyse and compare biowaste valorisation technologies.
- To reach the stakeholders through offering high visibility and unique features based on the latest IT technologies as well as co-creation and training opportunities, generating significant database usage for those interested in biowaste utilisation and valorisation technologies.
- To pave the way for the deployment of biowaste technologies and technology configurations by assessing the commercialisation potential with respect to continuity planning for technology suppliers, technology searchers and users reflecting regional differences in biowaste availability and composition.
- To generate and engage an increasing number of database users for future database expansion by embedding and integrating the biowaste technology database into the Renewable Carbon Community platform. Thus actively targeting stakeholders within the broader areas of biomass utilisation and linked technologies.
- To ensure the long-term operation of the database by setting up a business model and governance structure for the platform.

Star4bbs:
The overall aim of STAR4BBS is to maximize the potential of Sustainability Certification Schemes (SCS) and labels to support a successful transition to sustainable bio-based economy.
STAR4BBS will develop indicators and a new monitoring system for assessing the effectiveness and robustness of existing international and EU SCS, B2B labels, and related traceability systems applicable to biological feedstock and bio-based materials and products.

HOOP
HOOP Urban Circular Bioeconomy Hub
The Bioeconomy Hub provides resources and tools to improve the valorisation of biowaste and wastewater by cities and regions
The HOOP project supports 8 lighthouse cities and regions in developing large-scale urban circular bioeconomy initiatives that will focus on recovering valuable resources from urban biowaste and wastewater to make bio-based products.
The HOOP Network of Cities and Regions is a forum to exchange lessons learned and ideas for the implementation of bioeconomy projects.
The Virtual Academy provides resources related to the implementation of Urban Circular Bioeconomy solutions This includes manuals, handbooks and videos on technologies and financial engineering for circular bio-economy projects
